We appreciate everyone's cooperation in following these guidelines. Let’s work together to make this season safe and enjoyable for all! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Security
Important Safety Reminders from Security
As we kick off another great season, Security would like to remind all members of a few important safety rules that were a concern at the beginning of last season. These rules are in place to keep everyone safe and ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.
Helmet Requirement for Minors
Per West Virginia law, all individuals under the age of 18 must wear a helmet when operating or riding on mini-bikes, golf carts, or UTVs. This rule is strictly enforced, and a fine structure is in place for non-compliance. Please make sure that helmets are worn at all times to avoid penalties and, more importantly, to protect our young riders!
Block & Lot Numbers for Vehicles
All mini-bikes, golf carts, and UTVs must have a block and lot number displayed on them. If your vehicle does not have one, please visit Security, and we will issue your numbers free of charge. Proper identification helps us ensure safety, locate members when needed, and maintain an organized community.
Trail Use – Proceed with Caution
The trails are used at your own risk. Security has only one emergency vehicle capable of accessing the trails, which means that in the event of an emergency, response times may be delayed. Please use caution, be aware of your surroundings, and always let someone know when you plan to use the trails. In case of an emergency, be prepared to wait for emergency personnel to arrive if Security cannot reach you.
Stay safe and have fun!
Park Launches Voluntary Mini-Bike Registration Program to Improve Safety and Reduce Hassles
The park is introducing a voluntary mini-bike registration program aimed at reducing issues related to mini-bike use while enhancing safety and streamlining operations for both riders and security staff. Starting this season, participants can register their mini-bikes for a smoother, more organized experience when using the park’s trails and pathways.
What the Program Entails
Under the new program, mini-bike riders will receive a numbered sticker that they can place on their bike. The park will maintain a log of all registered bikes, which helps staff quickly identify bikes in the event of any issues or rule violations. In addition to receiving a registration sticker, participants will be required to sign an agreement form that outlines the specific rules for operating mini-bikes within the park. These rules are designed to ensure the safety of riders, pedestrians, and other park users while preserving the integrity of park trails and natural areas.
Why This Program?
The decision to introduce the mini-bike registration program stems from an ongoing need to address concerns raised by both riders and park security staff. With an increasing number of mini-bikes being used on park grounds, ensuring safety and managing potential disruptions have become priorities. By registering bikes, the park can better manage who is using the trails and make it easier to enforce safety regulations.
In addition, the program will help reduce the administrative burden on security staff, enabling quicker identification of registered bikes and reducing the need for lengthy interactions between riders and park authorities.
Looking Ahead: A Potential Policy Change
This registration program will start as a voluntary pilot, but the park has indicated plans to make the program a mandatory policy by the time of the park’s annual meeting in June. This transition would ensure that all mini-bike riders are held accountable to the park’s safety guidelines and rules, further improving the overall experience for both riders and non-riders.
As the program progresses, the park will collect feedback from participants and security staff to refine the registration process and evaluate the program's success. By June, the goal is to create a streamlined, fair, and effective system that benefits everyone who enjoys the park’s many offerings.
Benefits for Riders and Park Staff
For mini-bike riders, registering their bikes offers several advantages. It provides a clear way to demonstrate compliance with park rules and helps to minimize potential confusion or confrontations with security. Additionally, the registration system will give riders peace of mind, knowing that their bikes are officially recognized and that they can safely enjoy the park without worrying about enforcement issues.
For park security staff, the program simplifies bike monitoring and reduces the need for complex identification processes. Having a log of registered bikes allows for faster response times in the event of safety concerns or rule violations.
How to Get Involved
Riders interested in registering their mini-bikes can visit the park’s main office or the park website for more information. Registration forms and agreement documents will be available online, making it easy to sign up and receive your bike’s numbered sticker.
The park encourages all mini-bike riders to take part in the program, as it will help foster a safer, more enjoyable environment for everyone. Together, with your participation, we can create a more organized and welcoming space for all park visitors.
Stay tuned for more updates as the park works toward making this pilot program a success—and possibly a future requirement for all mini-bike riders!
