SUMMARY – SUMMER POWER REMINDER
As we enter the hottest part of the season—particularly the July 4th weekend—River Bend is preparing for full campground occupancy and peak electrical demand. Our electrical contractor, Dustin from Spring Mills Electric, has advised all members to conserve electricity to reduce the risk of overloads and maintain reliable power for everyone.
Key Notes:
-
No transformer failures have occurred this season so far, thanks to ongoing improvements and weather-related repairs.
-
However, remember: River Bend’s infrastructure is seasonal, not built for full-time, high-load residential use—especially during extreme heat.
-
Surrounding tree coverage on private lots increases the risk of outages from fallen branches and weather events.
What You Can Do:
-
Limit high electricity use during peak hours (e.g., AC, microwaves, dryers, EV charging, hot tubs, large inflatables).
-
Turn off lights, fans, and electronics when not in use.
-
Grill outdoors instead of using electric appliances.
Be Prepared:
-
Keep a generator if you have health concerns, children, pets, or limited mobility.
-
Avoid stocking excess refrigerated food—have coolers and ice ready.
-
Keep battery-powered lights, bottled water, and emergency supplies on hand.
In Case of an Outage:
-
Check with neighbors first to determine if it's a localized or wider issue.
-
Rule out camper-related problems (breaker, GFI, plug).
-
If it's a broader outage, call the office (during business hours) or security (after hours).
Be sure to state your block and lot number clearly and have them repeat it back to confirm.
Stay Informed:
All power-related updates will be posted on the Official River Bend Membership Corporation Announcements Facebook page.
Let’s work together to stay safe, cool, and connected this summer!
