Infrastructure, Patience, and Progress at River Bend

This has been an eventful week at River Bend, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all members and staff for your continued patience as we work through several challenges.

The well company is officially scheduled to arrive Saturday morning to install a new pump—this was the earliest available appointment after sourcing the necessary equipment. We've shared additional updates and addressed member concerns on our official Facebook page, but want to highlight a few key points here as well.

The current well pump is over 30 years old, despite the typical lifespan of such equipment being only 8–15 years. This situation highlights the critical importance of having dedicated funding for infrastructure repairs and a capital reserve. For many years, River Bend did not have a capital reserve fund—money set aside to address large, unexpected expenses—and we’re now working to change that.

Much of the park’s infrastructure has suffered from years of limited preventative maintenance. Our current maintenance team is actively addressing this, but they’re frequently faced with outdated systems and equipment that are well beyond their intended lifespan. For example, our maintenance vehicles have required significant attention, and we’ve made major progress throughout the park, including:

  • Stopping a leaking water tower

  • Replacing a deteriorated water slide tower

  • Upgrading playground chains and fittings

  • Replacing unreliable security and maintenance vehicles

  • Updating wiring in the bathhouses

  • Renewing software licenses for our security access system

  • Replacing roofs at the Ranger Station and pool bathhouse

  • Resealing the office roof

  • Replacing the pool’s chemical controller

  • Repairing fencing and more

We appreciate your understanding as we continue to prioritize the safety, functionality, and long-term stability of the park. Your support helps us stay focused on building a better River Bend for everyone.
